Arif Malik received his B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Engineering & Technology, Lahore, Pakistan in 1984, his M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from University of Wisconsin – Madison, USA in 1988 and Ph.D in Engineering from Imperial College London, UK, 1991. Before joining Sultan Qaboos University of Oman in 1998, Dr. Malik has worked several years in Energy Program of Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, Thailand and in Water and Power Development Authority, WAPDA, a major electric utility of Pakistan. Apart from his research interest in energy and electric power planning his interests include sustainable development, religion, science, philosophy and economics – the subject matter of this journal.
